#YesAllWomen

Note: This isn't anything book-related, but this is a very important topic that just had to be addressed.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably noticed the #YesAllWomen trend on twitter by now. In case you don't already know, on Saturday, May 24, 2014, a 22-year-old named Elliot Rodger murdered 6 women near the campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara before shooting himself in the head because they had rejected him.

Elliot Rodger in his final video before murdering 6 women

"You girls have never been attracted to me," he said in a video he shot before going on his killing spree. "I don’t know why you girls aren't attracted to me, but I will punish you all for it. It's an injustice... I don't know what you don't see in me. I'm the perfect guy and yet you throw yourselves at these obnoxious men instead of me, the supreme gentleman."

That was the catalyst for the trend, but it wasn't the reason. Women have been abused and have lived in fear of men for far too long. It's time to finally take a stand.

Women everywhere are sending a clear message with this trend: "We are no longer going to sit quietly and let ourselves be oppressed!" We are letting the entire world know what we have to put up with everyday since we were as young as thirteen years old, or maybe even younger.

It got me thinking of how Farah and I were planning to go to an amusement park with a group of friends (all girls) and some of our friends chose not to come because it wouldn't be safe. Those of us that are going are really nervous and we're all taking precautions like wearing long-sleeved shirts and baggy pants, so we'd have a better chance of being left alone. Why do we live in a world like this?

Women from all over the world have been brave enough to share their stories and we can relate to every single one of them. It makes me sick to see how so many of us have been harassed or abused and haven't gotten any justice for it. What makes me even more sick is that a lot of men have bashed these women, claiming that they "asked for it" because of the way they dressed, as if that totally justifies rape, or "not all men are like that." The problem is that men who aren't like that do nothing to stop those who are. I've seen the word "feminazi" so many times, it makes me want to scream! Though, to be fair, lots of men have been very supportive too, so kudos to you if you're one of these commendable men. If only all of the men in the world were like you, we wouldn't need this hashtag in the first place!

Don't go about thinking that this is just some silly trend that will be forgotten in a few days. It will only be forgotten if you let it. This hashtag is such a powerful and effective way to stand up to sexism and misogyny. So ladies, don't be afraid to share your horrible experiences because you're showing the world that you're not going to stand for it anymore and you're giving other girls the courage to speak up too by showing them that they're not alone. Your voice is important, so let it be heard. And if you're a man, don't get all defensive and just hear what women have to say. Read, empathize, learn.

New Changes

Welcome our new blog Admin !!

(btw click Here to know who's who)

Why we needed to join forces ?

Laila reads fantasy, dystopian, mystery, sci-fi while I read romance , contemporary and chick lit, so now we can review a wider variety of books.

If you're an old reader you'll know that I don't care much about "grammar" nor "punctuation" while Laila on the other hand is obsessed with correcting every single mistake i make so now you can read without laughing at my mistakes.(laila is having a proud moment)

I'm also the type who would search something and then open hundreds of tabs , read one and then get bored and close them all. Laila, on the other hand, doesn't mind spending hours reading them.

So now I bet you're asking yourselves, "What does Farah even do, then?"

Well, I started the blog and became obsessed with it. Whenever I read something, I'm like, "I gotta review this on my blog!",or "I gotta share this on my blog!"

Also, I'm the one doing all the backstage work, like editing HTML , blog layout and promoting the blog (but Laila is the one researching how to do that.)

A few words by Laila:

Hello there, readers. My name's Laila and I'm new to this blog.I love reading blogs and I've always been intrigued by the idea of having a blog and thought that it would be super fun, but I'm pretty much the shiest person on the planet, so I never had the guts to actually start one. That was until Farah told me she had one, so when I asked her to help me start one, she said, "Why don't you just join mine?" I was really nervous about it at first, but then I thought, "What have I got to lose?" So here I am, writing my first ever blog post with my amazing friend. I tend to blabber a lot, so please bear with me. I'm looking forward to having a wonderful time sharing my thoughts with you.

The Isobel Journal by Isobel Harrop

(4/5) stars

*I received a copy through Net Galley for an honest review*

The Isobel Journal is a graphic novel about Isobel's life, but it's basically every teen's life.

It was a very quick but enjoyable read and I love it.

Though don't expect a self help story. It's just a story for fun and a break from all the heavy novels we read.

^ I can relate ^

Also as a girl who is addicted to doodling in class, I absolutely loved her drawing style.

I also liked Isobel so much. She's funny and weird in a cute way.

Sorry for the short review, you can check out my other reviews >here< :)

have you read any graphic novels? recommend some for us !

Read this as an e-book. Unfortunately not yet available in Egypt but you can always special order it from any bookstore.

Tease by Amanda Maciel

(5/5) stars

click here for the book's summary

*i received a copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

let me begin by explaining how much i love stories about bullying i just love them ! i feel that the subject just intrigues me so much so when i see any story about bullying i know that i just HAVE to get my hands on it.

luckily for me the publishers of this lovely book accepted my request.

i LOVED LOVED this book and every page I'm like "I NEED A PHYSICAL COPY I JUST CAN'T LIVE WITH JUST AN E-BOOK"

most books about bullying are always from the bullied girl/boy side of the story but i loved that in Tease it's from the bully point of view. I've always hated bullies but i couldn't bring my self to hate Sara i felt like her personality is so realistic and i felt my self relating to her (i'm not a bully) when she just goes with the flow and trying to be more like her confident , don't mess with me best friend brielle.

i also got disappointed when i saw people who didn't finish the book.Sara did need a walk-up slap a couple of times but i have this concept where when a certain character  annoys me i think about it from their point of view....let me rephrase : we are seeing the whole field while players are only seeing what they're eyes can see. Plus in my opinion if i don't finish a book i won't review it cause i don't know whats happened in the end maybe it was great in the end i don't have the right to judge.

okay i'm gonna stop blabbering now...

"We didn't kill her. she did this to herself"

the book goes back and forth from the past to the present slowly reveling more and more of what really happened giving you the just-one-more-chapter feeling through out the book.

i really enjoyed this book and i highly recommend it but be patient and stick to the end until you get to the magical moment where authors make everything okay in the end.

What do you think about a story from the bullies prospective ? let us know :)

Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian

(4/5) stars

click here for the
book's summary :)

"This is Karma. I’m a bitch. Can

you think of anyone who deserves

a bitch slap?"

a book about revenge ?? yes please !!

this is always my first thought when i see a book about

revenge....i'm not evil....

but i was actually worried when i started the book i was

afraid it might turn out to be too cliche which i think it is a

bit but i like the twists to the cliche plus it was a pretty fast

read which i think is great because if they prolonged the

book it might have turned it into a 2 stars books.

The characters:

Mary:

mary is this cute and sweet character who just transferred

to kat's and lillia's highchool....not to add any spoilers i'll

make it quick..... i totally liked her!

Lillia:

lillia is cool but she still somewhat annoyed me. she's

adorable when she takes care of her sister that's what i liked

most about her.

Kat:

kat is defiantly my favorite of them all i like her don't-mess-

with-me character through out the book cause i always love

those strong girls who don't need anyone standing up for

them i envy them even.

I just love it when bullies get what they deserve i always

smirk and go like "oh yeah you deserve even more then

that!" and reading a whole book about this is like a guilty

pleasure to me.

question of the day :

Are you the type to get revenge or the type who forgives ?

Where you can find it in Egypt?

Cinder by Marissa meyer

(5/5) stars

lately all the books i read are 5 stars books
  which is weird...
     the storm is coming….

let me start by saying i'm totally not a sic-fi kind of person but i've been narrowing the genres that i read lately to contemporary and i really wanted and felt like i have to vary my genres because i feel like i'm missing out.

so that why i picked up cinder and i'm really glad i did because i absolutely loved it.

i get really worried when a book is that famous cause with over rating comes expectations and with expectations comes disappointment which sometimes is cruel because sometimes the book is good but we just set our expectations too high.

Cinder was really a great read i loved cinder's personality how she's sarcastic and not your average "oh, i'm so innocent and helpless" kind of person cause i hate them the most. also i loved iko she's adorable.

i also felt my self relating to peony a lot cause a lot of us don't admit it but we sometimes are put in a position were we want to define someone but we get scared or hesitate and end up not doing anything and then keep brain slapping our self for not doing anything. some way or another we are all bystanders .

wow. that was deep….ugh blogging and soothing a friend always gets out the poet in me.

question of the day:

have you read any fairy tale retellings   ?

Books and songs #1

so basically this tag is done a lot on you tube and i'm sure it's way more fun on you tube then here but what shall i say? my looks are too much for you *winks*

so anyway the tag is basically to link books with songs that remind you of the book or the lyrics is related to them. and i actually have a lot so i decided to do one too ! who said it should be done only on you tube ?

so let's start shall we?

#1 Water for elephants by sara gruen

and you probebly already know it cuz i mentioned it in my review
(which you can find >here <)

Magic by Coldplay
and it's the only video i'll share without the lyrics because i feel like the video is also related to the book i mean the circus and all ;)

#2 Dreamland by Sarah Dessen

so this book is about this stupid girl
caitlin and this boy rogerson who is a total
abusive asshole nevertheless caitlin keeps
going out with him...no matter what he do
and she never does anything..
don't get me wrong i love sarah dessen but
this book made me take a break from her books...

so any way this song fits the book perfectly !

I knew you were trouble by taylor swift
(totally related)

#3 broken glass by Tabitha Freeman

this song always remind me of the book

you can also check my review >here<

The lonely by christina perri

#4 Love,rosie by Cecelia ahern

this book was so fun to read i admit that
it's a bit slow but luckily i read a review that
warned me before hand to be patient and
now i'm warning you (your welcome)
and it's being made into a movie woohoo *victory dance*.it's about Alex and............Rosie (took me some time to remember..like the book is named after her how smart can i get?) and they're childhood friends and one of them fall in love with the other and all that.

falling in love (with my best friend) by Matt White

(can you be anymore obvious ?)

and last but not least....

#5 Hate list by Jennifer brown

this song is just so this book (my grammar is awesome) like it describes how everyone just sees the bad side of nick because he shot the bullies in school and they totally forget his good side.
(those are not spoilers btw )

The Boy With The Thorn On His Side by the smiths

oh look this post looks like a rainbow how pretty *admiring my work* although hate list made it dark in the end...

so that my list for now look out for #2 and don't forget to follow me for more lists and reviews you awesome people ;)

see you later!
